not that i know of but i found a pencil box at the dollar store that works well.. target also has dollar items that might work but my fave is dollar store
Do they open enough to fit over a 1/2 rod and quilt to secure hanging?
No, they will not fit over a 1/2 rod and quilt. I believe there is a larger size available.
how long are the clips?
Most descriptions will say one inch. I did measure it and it was 1 1/16". They are 3/8" wide. I LOVE Clover Wonder Clips. I have even purchased the Jumbo Wonder Clips (2 1/4" x 1/2") and the Mini Wonder Clips (1" x 1/4". The nose narrows to 1/8"). All 3 styles have incremental markings on the bottom (flat side) which are very helpful at times. You won't be disappointed.
Where are these made?
Have great news for you. They are made in JAPAN., so you don't get Chine junk.
Will it hold index cards and hang them from a clothesline?
Definitely. The clips can fit over a clothesline and still hold on to index cards.
Are these the medium sized ones? What are the dimensions?
3/8ths at the width, 1 inch and 1/16 inches, the tip is flat these are smaller than the neon green ones that I have which are 1/2 inch wide and 2 1/5 inches long. I am not sure if the about the terminology of medium for the red. According to the Clover site there are jumbo, which are the 1/2 wide ones, mini which have a 1/8th tip and the red ones. hope this helps. this link takes you to clover and the mini clips, you can see the other clips on the menu to the right of the mini's. www.clover-mfg.com/product/9/279
I am looking for something safe to use around children. Do these clips contain any lead?
I don’t think so. Lead is a soft, bendable metal, which would not be strong enough for a clip to work properly.
Would these be strong enough to stretch the fabric for painting?
Depends on what you are attaching them to, to stretch the fabric, and how much tension is on the fabric. These open wide enough for binding for quilting (about 4 layers of fabric plus batting). These are usually used to hold something together, not necessarily hold with tension (like stretching).
Are these made in Japan?
Yes, my packages of Wonder Clips were made in Japan. I love mine and have bought them in all sizes and colors.
