Can beginner sewers do this?

I would say from 1-10 ten being hard its a 5. I did it a few yrs ago and was easy for me but I have been sewing for 35 yrs. Just know reading the instructions was hard for me but taking it slow helped and talking it out as well.

Can you just use fat quarters for the wallet fabric?

Yes, you can.

What is fold mean in the pattern?

Usually fold is used to describe placing the pattern piece on the folded edge of the fabric so you are doubling the piece. Patterns are printed in Halves to save paper. Folds enlarge it to full size.

What is the finished size?

8" w x 5" h x 1½" d

I am new to sewing please let me know how to trace the pattern onto the fabric for cutting?

I made copies of the pattern on my printer, about 4, and cut one out and pinned to the fabric, then but cut the pattern out. Hope this helped. And welcome to the family of people that sew.

Would this be suitable to sew in a light garment weight leather?

You could always give it a try, but it might be a tough make. But if you have experience and equipment for sewing with leather you could see.

Is this a paper pattern?

Yes, this is a paper pattern that is easy to follow. However, I added 2 inches to the length so that it folds over a little farther and that seems to work out better for me. I love this pattern and have made at least 6 so far, some for gifts. I think it goes together well.
