I am having a difficult time finding a walking foot to fit my Janome Skyline 3....any suggestions? Does it even need a walking foot?

I've been using the "DREAMSTITCH 395721-93 High Shank Evan Feed Walking Foot for Elna,Janome Sewing Machine" and it works fine. It's a high shank machine, so just make sure any walking foot you buy is also high shank. When I went into a quilting store to look at this machine, they said that this machine "doesn't need" a walking foot because of its even feed system, or something like that. But for quilting, I think you really do need one, and the one I mentioned above is far cheaper than the Janome high-shank walking foot. Good luck!

New machine, needle threader breaks the thread before it goes into the needle? I know how to use these.

I bought all new thread to rectify a similar problem. Also my sewing machine doesn't like embroidery thread - snaps off a lot. Check your needle position before lowering automatic needle threader. Check to see if the hook is damaged or bent. Check that you are coming up and under the hook and the hook is thru the eye of the needle. Pull that lever back slowly and pull the back loop of thread thru. That hook is sharp...it is possible to puncture the thread.

I've only used a manual machine, is this easy to figure out and use?

It comes with a good manual. As long as you take the time to read through it. You should be able to use it just fine.

Does this machine have an auto needle threader?

Yes it has a needle threader that you operate with 1 hand. Very easy.

Does this machine have auto pivot, when the needle is in the down position and you stop selling does the presser foot automatically come up?

No, the presser foot has a manual lever that you would need to lift in order for it to come up. Hope that helps!

can you use a cone of thread

No, I don’t think so. There is a small embedded area for different sized standard spools of thread, but nothing built-in would accommodate a cone. However, there is nothing to stop you from creating your own cone stand that would thread automatically into the machine.

Does the S3 have a buttonhole plate as offered in the S5?

yes

How is it sewing thick fabric, such as denim?

Haven't used denim. Have made a quilt with flannel, fleece. Machine worked very well. Easy to adjust tensions.

does this come with a knee lift?

If you are referring to running the machine with the knee pressed against a pedal arrangement - NO. It runs with the foot pedal or with a switch on the front of the machine that you press on and off. I personally like the foot pedal.

How is it sewing faux leather?

Hi It should be no problem. Please call the store at 800-442-8227 and ask for our sewing specialist for further details and for our great deals on this sewing machine. Thank you Scott
