What type of needles and thread does this machine use?

Dear Elsa, the Juki MO-735 5 thread serger uses standard regular household needles. We recommend the brand Schmetz as most dependable and it is best to always use sizes #11/75 or #14/90. Thread to be used with sergers come on cones, usually in 3000 yard and 6000 yard putups. We have had very good luck using serger thread brands of MaxiLock and Venus. Thank you -

I'm debating between getting a dedicated serger and dedicated cover stitch machine which would be cheaper. What are the pros to buying the all in one?

Space, space, space! I love this serger and use it along with a sewing machine for most of my projects. The space I saved getting an all in one is occupied by an embroidery machine.

Does this work well with extra thick/mutiple layers of fabrics and denim?

I worked with double layers of thick jeans, I have not tried any thicker than that but it just works perfectly. For extra thick multi-layers material, you may need to invest in a block of wood and a small rubber/silicon mallet, lay the fabric onto the wood, and using the mallet, firmly bash the material until its really flattened.

Does this machine have a built in light?

Yes, it does have a light and bunch of other really cool features. Thanks,Oren

Does the overlock use 2 needles

Yes. I really love the machine but learning to thread it was a challenge.

Does this model have the LED light?

How much work is it/how hard is it to go from serging set-up to coverstitch? Reviews seem focused on serging, what about hemming knits?

Hi, It's not that complicated to change over. I think the focus is so much on serging because that is the primary focus of the machine and not every person has a use for the cover stitch function. But if you purchased this particular machine then probably at some point you wanted to use the cover stitch feature. It works great for hemming knits. I hope this was helpful. Thanks, Wayne

can you get a work book for this machine?

You can check for information about Juki MO 735 manuals and other helpful information. Look at the different reviews.

Hi Is this a industrial sewing machine?

Hi, this is a professional heavy duty home/shop sewing machine, not industrial but reliable and works great. The industrial sewing machine cost few thousand dollars.
