Are the needles sturdy?

No, they are not. The heads broke off two of them with normal fabric and thread. I can't use the needle to tighten the stitch, instead, I have to tighten it holding the thread. And, the two heads that broke off were from the large needles.

Where do these come from?

They come from Amazon. There is no indication of where they were manufactured except a sticker on the bag that says "by Meiho Lives". Perhaps you could Google the company

Are these good for embroidery floss sewing on felts?

Hand sewing and hand embroidery is my weakest subject in the sewing world. I can make a computerized machine sing and whip through the software in a snap. All of my couture sewing is done on a machine. My hand embroidery is to give it that 3rd grader look. I can knit and crochet like a champ. But when it comes to squaring a board in woodshop or making a garment by hand it's really sad. I really need to take a series (not just one) of sewing by hand classes from a seasoned expert in this subject.

Can I use these for silk/sheer material?

As much as I like these needles, I'm not sure I would risk using them on something rather delicate. Silk and/or sheer might be a bit much.

I cannot get the needles out.

You can Remove the Needles by placing one hand on the bottom black ruffled portion & placing your other hand on the Top Clear ruffled portion as you turn the top clear portion, there's an opening on the side of the clear portion, turn the opening to the needles you want to remove & lastly turn the case upside down, the Needles should slide out.

Can this go through a felt square?

Yes it can! the bigger needles may be better suited as they are a little stiffer than the very thin needles but both can do the job effectively
