Do you have to use a serger?

You do not have to use a serger.

If i wanted to do french seams, would i cut this 1 size bigger than i am (or 2 sizes bigger)?

Your best bet would be to check an online sewing sight or a general sewing book from the library. I have read a bit about French seams and don't recall any mention of going up a size when using a sewing pattern. Good luck!

Is the pattern uncut?

My pattern package was uncut.

Could this garment be lined?

I lined my kimono in silk. I liked the results, very comfortable.

Is there a reason you don't make shipping charge adjustments for purchasing multiple items?

No. All my United States items ship free. Is your address outside of the United States?

How easy would this be for a beginner sewing project?

The instructions are clear and it is a basic pattern. A little sewing terminology and experience would be helpful. As long as the fabric used is easy to work with and the instructions are followed it is pretty straight forward.

How is the sizing on this, has anyone used the largest size? How does it fit? Loose or tighter than you thought it would be?

Sorry, haven't used it yet. However, I have always trusted Simplicity patterns as they seem to be a good 'fit'. That doesn't mean it will fit tight -- it just means they are similar to sizes of off-the rack sizes. I would expect this to have a loose fit just based on the design.

Is this pattern large enough to meet in the middle, at the seam line, on views C & D?

Simplicity is an awesome easy to follow. I've been using Simplicity for over 40 years! Nothing, in my view can compare!!!

Does this pattern work well with cotton fabric as for quilting?

I haven't tried quilting cotton. The fabric needs a good drape. There are some quilting fabrics that might work, but the pattern is designed for silkier fabrics.

will chiffon work for this kimono?

The pattern suggests a number of fabrics that work including "silky types" so chiffon will work. It's not the easiest fabric to sew with, though. If the sewist is at least an advanced beginner, she or he should be able to use chiffon successfully.
